The best course of action when a guard discovers a safety hazard is to report it immediately and take steps to mitigate risk. This approach is critical for several reasons. Firstly, security personnel are often in a position to observe potential dangers that could harm individuals, property, or the overall environment. By reporting the hazard right away, the guard ensures that appropriate actions can be taken to address the issue before it leads to accidents or injuries.

Additionally, taking immediate steps to mitigate risk demonstrates a proactive attitude and a commitment to safety. This could include cordoning off dangerous areas, alerting others to the hazard, or implementing temporary measures to minimize risk until the situation is resolved by designated personnel. It is essential for security guards to prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone in the vicinity, and acting swiftly is a crucial part of their responsibilities.

While other choices might suggest leaving the situation to others or waiting for further instructions, these options could result in delays that potentially compromise safety. It is vital for security guards to take initiative in ensuring a safe environment.
